SolidWorks Sustainability allows students and designers to be environmentally conscious about their designs.

Every license of SolidWorks 2011, obtains a copy of SustainabilityXpress. SustainabilityXpress calculates environmental impact on a part in four key areas: Carbon Footprint, Energy Consumption, Air Acidification and Water Eutrophication.

Material and Manufacturing process region and Transportation Usage region are used as input variables. Two SolidWorks Sustainability products are available:

SolidWorks SustainabilityXpress: Handles part documents and is included in the core software.

SolidWorks Sustainability: Provides the following functions:

• Same functions as SustainabilityXpress
• Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)of assemblies
• Configuration support:
  • Save inputs and results per configuration
• Expanded reporting capabilities for assemblies
• Specify amount & type of energy consumed during use
• Specify method of transportation

SolidWorks Sustainability provides real-time feedback on key impact factors in the Environmental Impact Dashboard, which updates dynamically with any changes by the user. You can generate customize reports to share the results.

Run SustainabilityXpress and analyzes a part. Display the four environmental impact factors, view suitable alternative materials, compare their environmental impact factors and generate a customer report.
